Free Repair!

If you are one of those unlucky souls, or if you're just plain careless and ended up with a broken LCD screen on your digital camera, you might want to read this. (If you still own an old school 35mm camera, how in the hell do you even know about blogs & the internet?!) I was able to get mine (not really mine, it was my brothers) fixed for free! So my younger brother Dalton, had his Canon SD500 for almost a year before he broke the LCD screen. As you already know, just because the screen is busted it doesn't mean the camera wont work. So my parents ended up buying him a new one for Christmas (My how things have changed since Derek and I were younger, if we broke it... we have to buy another one with our own money) and the old camera has been sitting on his desk unused for the past 6 months collecting dust. Now that the warranty period is over, he would have to pay to get it fixed. So I remember an old co-worker telling me a story about how his younger niece broke her screen on her digital camera, and mailed it to Canon for repair with a little letter telling them how she broke it. To make a long story short, she got it fixed for free! So I decided to pull a cheese ball move, and write a cheesy ass letter (wrote left handed to make it look like a kid wrote it) as if I were Dalton. Five days after mailing it out to Canon, they called me back and wanted $121 to fix my LCD screen, I told them I'll call them back after I spoke to my little brother Dalton. The very next day, Canon called and said never mind they will fix it for free and mail it back with no expense to my younger brother.
