Thanks to the Felix family we were able to spend the weekend up in Lake Arrowhead for dad's 59th birthday. This is Landon's 2nd time seeing the snow, and Anistin's 1st time. Driving up Friday night was horrible, fog, rain and wind made this the scariest drive I've ever experienced.

Every year my family does a gift exchange with all the cousins. You're given two names, one name is your Secret Santa which you buy a gift for, and the 2nd name is for the person who you make a gift for. This years theme was "Silver Bells", and the gift you made must have some sort of silver bell or bells. Derek had Landon this year and made this awesome model of the house from the movie "Up". If you recall, the scene where the house goes up from all the balloons. That is Landon's favorite part of the movie. Look closely and you'll see Derek has a little cardboard house that has these strings attached to the bells (which are the balloons). Best part of this, the strings are actually fiber optics, and it illuminates when you turn them on! Landon loves the gift and now I have to figure out a way to hang this in his room. Thanks uncle Derek!

FG's Christmas Party 2010

This year for FG's White Elephant gift, we gave away an Apple iPad. Unlike last year, we changed up the rules. Like your normal White Elephant, all gifts are limited to 3 steals, however the iPad had unlimited steals. Plus every time you wanted to steal something, the person stealing the gift is required to take a shot. Pang and Khanh went toe to toe, and about 10 shots later Khanh decide to throw in the towel and Pang was the winner of this years FG's Main Prize for White Elephant.

We've been coming here since Landon made the 1st page of the OC register back in 2008. The kids enjoy the train ride and running around the pumpkin patch. Plus, it's only 5 bucks per car for parking, and then the rides are extra. We took him on the train ride for 4 bucks per person, and then the pony ride for 4 bucks. Pretty cheap day, and he had a blast. Doesn't beat Disneyland, but saved us 200 bucks!

Four bucks for this pony ride, 3 laps, and the scent of fresh pony shit.

I was running errands before we went out for the day, and I felt like some coffee and saw these Halloween doughnuts at Krispy Kremes. I tried to order one, but they said you had to buy a dozen if you want the Halloween themed doughnuts. (notice how Landon went for the sprinkled one, those are his fav)

FGI Trip to NJ & NY

Tho and I had a business trip to NJ to visit some of our business partners. We lucked out on the weather, Cali had 100+ temperatures while we had some really good weather in Jersey. We spent around 7 days on the trip, mostly working out of our hotel during most of the day. We had about 1.5 days to spend in NY, which was enough for me. I'm sure we could have done more, but the trip was already long enough, and I was missing the family.

Took out my parents and Dalton to Mastro's Ocean Club for dinner as a thank you for allowing us to shack up with them while our house was being remodeled. Landon enjoying his dessert and his candle.

Been Busy!

The past two months we've been super busy, we finally closed escrow back on June 11th. We finally moved out of our condo on July 16th. (Highly recommend "Starving Students" moving company). Since then we've been living with my parents at the "5 Malibu Hostel". About two and a half months later, our remodel on our home is finally coming to an end. We never anticipated it taking this long, and lucky for us my parents were kind of enough to let us shack up with them during this time. (might as well, they have a 5 bedroom house w/ just my younger brother living with them) Lucky for us, we had great dinners every night and Landon was able to spend even more time with his grandparents. Here's some pics from the past couple of months, I'll try to post some of the house later when I get time.

Yup, it's been a year since we took Landon to the Irvine Pumpkin Patch! Last year he made the front page of the OC Register. Though we didn't see the OC Register there this year, the kids still had fun even with the nasty heat. We lucked out this year, on the way back to the car Lam found a 20 dollar bill. So our trip to the pumpkin patch only cost us 5 bucks (parking), and we had 15 bucks extra!

First video is Landon enjoying his honeyball crackers, and the second video is him playing with water.

Just like turning over a shot glass to prove you took the shot, he turns over his dish to prove he killed those honeyballs. That's natural instinct, I didn't teach him that!

Yup, this didn't last long because mom said it was too cold. He's the kid that'll be playing in the streets with his friends, and mom will be yelling out of the garage to come get his jacket... poor lil guy.

Here are just a few pictures I took with my iPhone. (Yes, I finally got the iPhone) We had another family trip, and we ended up going to Mammoth for some fishing. Unfortunately my mom got sick the day before and got that nasty flu that's going around. So it was, Lam, Landon, myself, Dalton, Derek, his girlfriend Morgan, and my dad that went on this fishing trip. Mom stayed home with the flu & Cricket. We haven't gone as a family since we were kids, hopefully we'll be able to do this every year from this point going forward. As a kid, one of my fondest memories was summer time. If we didn't have summer school we'd be on our trip to the High Sierras for fishing with mom, dad and my brother Derek (Dalton wasn't around then). I remember the night before all the excitement kept me up all night and I couldn't sleep. I just say there in bed thinking about all the fishing that would happen the next four days. At that time we also would go with my younger cousin Natalie and her parents Mel and Irene (my mom's older brother and his wife). At that time there were no cell phones (if there were, my dad didn't own one neither did my uncle), but my uncle and my dad communicated with CBs during the 6 hour drive up to Mammoth. Our first stop then and now was Bishop (for those of you who go snowboarding know Bishop, and the smaller towns like Lone Pine because you probably got a ticket for speeding or had to get gas.) Bishop Creek I know like the back of my hand, I know all the fishing holes since I was a kid, till this day those same holes still produce trout. Enough reminiscing for now... I'll add more photos and videos later and I'll include a link to our Me.com album with ALL the pictures later this week.

Our trip to Seattle & Victoria Canada

Our first trip with Landon on a plane went smooth. For those of you who don't know, Lam likes to travel and I could really careless unless it was a fishing trip of some sort. Our last trip according to her was our Honeymoon. So I guess we're overdue, she wanted to go to Hawaii or NY. I knew the lil turd couldn't handle a flight that long so I came up with Seattle and Canada. Since my parents did this same trip 10 years ago, they told us it's a nice trip and relaxing and it's a pretty short air flight to Seattle. We ended up booking the trip and Lam did all the planning and reservations. She did an awesome job, everything she picked was perfect. If you have kids that still use the stroller or if you are in use of a wheelchair, I would reconsider Victoria. They have very feel wheelchair access ramps, most of the wheelchair access areas were those mini elevators. Other than that, everything went well and we all had fun. So much fun, Lam said we don't have to go on another trip for 3 more years! After the last picture of this post, I'll have a hyperlink for the full album of our trip. Landon's first time on the plan was perfect, we left OC at noon and as we were taking off he feel asleep till we landed 2.5 hours later!

Try sticking to credit cards when going to Canada, most places will not do the currency conversion ratio, and only give you dollar to dollar and you'll also get stuck with this crap.

Here's a picture of the inside of the ferry that we took from Anacortes to Victoria. This only 1/4 of the ferry, this thing looks like it can hold over 300 passengers and maybe 60 cars. The trip from Anacortes to Victoria was 3 hours, you get to go through all the islands and it's smooth & very relaxing ride. The ride back only takes about 2 hours, though ours took a little longer because we hit some fog on the way back home.

This is a shot from the Space Needle, from what the waiter told me this is a tugboat, and normally they don't spray water like that, he's just showing off. Still pretty cool looking.

One of my pet peeves are those damn automatic paper towel dispensers, that only give you a short piece of paper towel to dry your hands. So you end up waving your damn hand in front of the stupid sensor like 5 times, and of course you have to wait forever for it to recognize your movement, by that time the water has probably already dried. As you can see in this picture, Canada has no problems giving out a pretty decent size paper towel, I was quiet please with this!

Victoria has their own version of China Town, but you know it's not a REAL China Town if you're missing the homeless, trash in the streets, old Chinese dude playing that strange looking violin, and of course the smell of funk! Victoria's China Town consisted of maybe one block.... again, not a real China Town.

While Lam was changing Landon's diapers she realized as she was taking off his shorts that he took a dump. So she had to grab the closest thing on the bed to use as a changing mat. Seattle's Saturday newspaper is now on Landon's butt cheeks.

Our Trip to Julian San Diego

Thanks to Nikki (one of the girls that works with Lam), she suggested we check out Julian. So we took a drive down there to check out the place. Just as I figured, a typical small town with one main road, "mom & pop" cafe's, bakery's, liquor stores, and cheesy gift shops. I'm glad it only took us 2 hours, Larry & Irene had the 4 hour drive (might as well have been Vegas). Overall it was a nice trip for the families and our kids. Even though we missed the Laker game, we were able to tune into 570am and listen on our way home while our wives and kids slept (except Dave, he enjoyed the beautiful sounds of Connor).

Nevermind the stupid hats, how in the hell did they all fit in that little cart!?

Dalton (my youngest brother) was going on a Marine Ecology trip to Catalina this past weekend. So we dropped him off in Long Beach, and had lunch at Bubba Gump Shirmp. Derek ordered fish and chips, and of course they had the malted vinegar on the table. We (meaning Derek and I), enjoy capturing Landon's expressions on video. Since Derek had his 5DM2, we decided to see how Landon would react to his first taste of a vinegar soaked french fry. Hope you enjoyed the video, we did!

Teresa & Costco Cupcake Challenge

For those of you who don't know Chung, he typically loves to challenge girls to a drinking contest. Since he knows Teresa will probably beat him at his own game he decided to give her a different challenge. 4 Costco cupcakes, 2 with icing and 2 without icing, must be completely eaten in 6 minutes. The prize, $95 paid out by Chung. If you watch the video closely, you will notice the original agreement was NO WATER.

Here are some key marks you want to watch out for:
40 second mark, Dave is speaking with Teresa, no clue what he said but I think he's coaching her on how to cram all that food in 6 minutes.
50 second mark, Chung talks to Dave and I have no clue what they were saying but Dave gives Chung a high-5, and looks at Chung like "hey dick, why are you trying to get my wife fat..."
60 second mark, you see your typical side bets going on...
2 minute 20 second mark, everyone is yelling at Chung to give Teresa water (mostly the girls), Chung being the dick that he is, takes the water and drinks it for himself. What a gent!

Family Pics for mothers day

So for mothers day Derek had a great idea to do an updated family portrait of the kids (being Myself, Lam, Derek, Dalton and Landon). If you've been to my parents house (which most of you have), I'm sure you've seen the two ridiculous family portraits we took about 10+ years ago. Dressed in all white with blue jeans, we couldn't get more gay than that. My brother got a new SLR (Canon 5D Mark II), after spending $3,500 on this new toy I can see the value to a nice SLR. I'm happy with my Canon SD750 (thanks tho), but now that I got my brothers old SLR I'll be able to pretend I'm a photographer too. Here are some pics he took with his new camera along with 1080p video! I wonder if 10 years from now, are we going to think these pictures are just as gay as our old ones... probably so... Happy mothers day mom!
